Getting around Christchurch:
Transport to/from the airport:
Christchurch's international airport is 12km from the city centre, making it a quick and economic taxi ride/ride share. The estimated travel time is 15-20mins. The taxi/ride share rank is located outside International Arrivals (exit through Door 7). Prices vary by company and we recommend asking for an estimated cost before you begin your journey.
Super Shuttle provides a door-to-door service around Christchurch using multi-passenger vans. The Super Shuttle rank is outside International Arrivals (exit through Door 7). Please visit www.supershuttle.co.nz to book.
If you prefer public transport, regular Metro bus services (Route 3 and Route 29) connect the airport directly to the central city. Buses depart from the northern end of International Arrivals, just outside Door 9. You can tap on using contactless credit or debit cards (including Apple Pay and Google Pay). Walking the City:
Christchurch is built on flat terrain and features a highly compact, walkable central city. The main conference venue (Te Pae), the welcome event venue (The Great Hall at the Arts Centre), major hotels, and dining precincts like Riverside Market are all within a scenic 5 to 15-minute walk of each other along the Ōtākaro Avon River. You will likely not need a car if you are staying in the CBD.
E-Scooters & E-Bikes:
For a faster way to zip around the city centre, you’ll find public e-scooters and e-bikes readily available on almost every corner. They are perfect for a quick trip from your hotel to the venue. Christchurch currently uses Lime and Flamingo. Simply download their apps, scan the barcode on the handlebars, and ride.
Weather:
Christchurch’s weather during this August/September is usually beautifully clear but brisk. You can expect crisp mornings with overnight lows often dipping to around 2–4°C (35–39°F), while the afternoons typically warm up to a mild 12–14°C (53–57°F). While Christchurch is generally drier than other major New Zealand cities, spring can still bring changeable weather and occasional showers.

Wander through the Historic Arts Centre: As the location for our welcome event, you will get a taste of this stunning heritage precinct. We highly recommend returning during the day to explore the boutiques, galleries, and beautifully restored gothic revival buildings.

Explore Hagley Park & the Botanic Gardens: Take a relaxing stroll to see the early spring flowers and blossoms starting to emerge in the city's expansive central green spaces.
